I feel very lucky to have come of age during the "Space Race," especially the Apollo missions. Man on the moon was the catapult that sent me to "other worlds." Most of the other kids had dreams of making it as an Astronaut, I however came to the realization that chubby kids most likely couldn't fit through a space capsule hatch! So I set my sites to the more realistic vision of pursuing a technical job, and get my own white lab coat. Never got the lab coat, but I did have access to a TV, which not only had complete NASA coverage, there was also this great Star Trek show. Well Star Trek leads to Lost in Space leads to those great "B" movies (like on MST3K) and there's War of the Worlds, I hid behind the couch when the door opened at the end! Guess I'm one of the lucky ones, my television habit lead to reading, Wells, Asimov and then, when I was about 19 there was the Hobbit. That sealed my fate.
In the event that there are others that share this Science Fiction habit, I think you'll enjoy the pages and related links on this site. I've taken great care and time to create the "Best Darn Site I Can Muster." Your opinion of these efforts are very important to me, please take the time to "drop me a line." Interaction helps encourage any Web author. However excessive positive feedback sometimes gives'em big heads. Real pickle ain't it! |
